Comment:

I have just bought a Connect3D X800GTO off my friend for a decent price, and I'm planning on using every bit of power that's in it. I've heard that four out of the 16 pipelines it has are disabled, and I've also heard that those 4 pipelines can be activated by flashing the bios. Everywhere I looked, they show how to do it with a floppy disk + floppy drive, I do not have a floppy drive in my current computer, so how do I do it?

Also, if I unlock the 4 pipelines on a computer and take the card out and put it in another, will the 4 pipelines still be unlocked? Or will I have to unlock them again on the new computer?

Thank you

Get a floppy drive & install it. Everyone should have one. They're cheap & occasionally come in handy...especially for updating the BIOS or firmware.

An ISO image does just as good for me. that's how I update by bios and everything else. I haven't used a floppy disc in 4 years.

Jam, this computer was originally an emachines, I just put in some stuff so I call it custom. It's an emachines case, does not have a slot for a floppy drive, that's the problem.

And what is an ISO image? And how do you do it in this specific case?

Cobra_R means a bootable CD. You need to burn system files onto a disk along with a flashing program and the flash file. Make the system boot from the CD-ROM in the bios and off it goes, type in the name of the flash program at the prompt and do what you need. An ISO is like a zip file, it contains all the files to be burned to a CD. Usually when you backup a CD to your computer its in ISO format. You can download an ISO image which contains the files to flash your bios, but it will probably be difficult to find.

I wouldn't recommend flashing your vid cards BIOS, it's a lot more risky than a motherboard flash and hard to fix if there is a stuff up.
