Comment: I have just unlocked my CPU. i am running on a GigaByte 7VAX which has DIP switch to change the multiplier, DIP switch to change the FSB (only for 100,133 and 166Mhz) and i can also change FSB in BIOS! can someone help me to overclock?

Reply: (edit)Just start upping the FSB and multipliers a little at a time and see how your system reacts to the settings. When your system starts to freeze then increase voltage also known as vcore. Make sure you download a free utility or something from www.Downloads.com to watch the temps. of your CPU as well as the entire system. And this is all you need, to make a successful overclock. With good cooling you should do pretty good. Hope this helps.

Reply: (edit)Thanks for that! the problem is that i cannot increase multiplier more than 12! so i decrease it at 11 and increase FSB to 166! you think if i increase vcore i can o/c more? also with a more overclockable motherboard (EPOX or ABIT for example) you think i can go more? my temps are at 39C idle and 45 full load!

Reply: (edit)Yes, if you get a better motherboard you might be able to overclock more. I would suggest you go with ABIT since they have rock stability. Right now, I have a matsonic motherboard not that brand name but I have overclocked my CPU 1.7Ghz to 2.7Ghz with heavy water cooling. It depends on the technique that you use instead of the motherboard in my opinion. Don't move the multipliers that much because the speed of the CPU is determined by this formula (CPU Speed = FSB * Multipliers) if I am not mistaken...please correct me if I am wrong. What is the original speed of your CPU. Your motherboard is definitly not working with you. Change the motherboard and today's motherboard have more options than your motherboard. Vcore only helps you get your system more stable and it also causes the CPU to heat up more so BETTER COOLING. Hope this helps.
