I have an old American MegaTrends MoBo that max FSB is 75 MHZ. I am installing an AMD K6-2 500 MHZ that is rated for 100 MHZ FSB. Other than a slower processor, is there any hazard in UNDERclocking the CPU? This is a project system and I don't want to spend $$ on a new MoBo....yet!

You shouldn’t encounter any problems underclocking this CPU.

What is your max multiplier? Is it 5.5X?

And what OS are you using?

Thanks for the reply.
Yes...Max multiplier is 5.5 and OS is WIN 98.

Currently operating with Cyrix MMX 200 Mhz. Any upgrade, even if it's an underclocked 500 Mhz, should be an improvement. By maxing the jumpers, I figure to pull at least 412 Mhz.

I underclocked my 600 MHZ VIA Cyrix III to 200 MHZ without problems.
