Subject: Underclocking my P4 3GHz?OS: winxpCPU/Ram: p4 3 GHz, DDR400 |
Comment: Hiya) Ive got a MSI 848P Neo mobo Radeon 9800 Pro 128Mb DDR 400W PSU Q-Tec Silent solution kit for cooling DDR400 'PC world own brand' opps, ya i know(( Got all that in the case at the mo, and just got a P4 3Ghz 800FSB on order...(Whoot!) I'm wondering if i am using single channel DDR memory would be underclocking my cpu? ....and how would my system compare if i 'did' get a dual channel mobo with paired memory....would the upgrade be worth the 300 or so quid to do it? Thankies in advance))) Boo!

Reply: (edit)forget about paying the extra 300, what a waste of cash. you don't need dual channel and it wouldn't be effecting your CPU. Reply: (edit)You just wasted the money on P4 3ghz if you use single channel board; 3200 vs over 5000mb/s is the difference. P4 800 dual channel memory bandwidth is similar to A64 in dual channel; while AXP does not mean much with dual channel.

Reply: (edit)So, i guess in single channel, i would be underclocking the fsb on my pcu to 400Mhz.. Say, if i got a dual channel mobo and memory, i would then utilise the the 800 FSB on my P4 Is dat correct?? Boo!
