looking to underclock my computer to c if it fixes the locking up problems,

i got amd athlon(tm) processor, windows ME, 256mb ram,ASUS A7A266, NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400,40gig hardrive, i need to put n e thing else down?

Yeah, the speed of the chip. But , if you cannot run it at the speed it was rated for, underclocking probably will nto solve your problem , unless you have a damaged or mismarked CPU. I would look at other things , like RAM and add in cards first.

To answer your question, though, you will have to go into your BIOS, and look for the CPU settings option. I cant exactly tell you how to do this, because most every one is diffrent, but generally it will be in a menu to itself, or you will see it very plainly marked.

ive been under there and it says like 1333mhz or something but its not a choice that u can alter, its just there so u can c it but cant select it =( , is that the only way to do it?
