Comment: Hi. I have an AMD Athlon 1700+ running at 1100mhz right now. It seems that every time I put the FSB at 110mhz or more my computer gets extremely unstable. It crashes very frequently whenever I raise the FSB. I don't think that heat is the problem because for the few minutes it does run with an fsb of 133 the temp is right around 40C. What could be the problem if heat is not an issue? I also have a 300watt power supply but I don't think it's power related either, as the computer doesn't turn off or anything, the OS just freezes.

Reply: (edit)I have an ANTEC PSU and an MSI 745 Ultra Socket A Mainboard. What settings do I change if memory is the problem? Thanks.

Reply: (edit)A couple things you can try... increase the VCore just a teenie bit, and try the RAM at 2.5T instead of 2T. If you are getting blue screens (assuming you are in NT/2000/XP) these are the likely solutions. Or get Linux

Reply: (edit)humm.. sounds like its a jumper problem.. doesn't your MOBO have a Jumper to Switch it from a 100mhz bus to a 133mhz bus.. cuss it can handle Durons and Tbirds 1.4 if the Cpu has the true 133mhz bus x2 - 266 and your mobo is only suppose to recognize a 100mhz bus x2 because the older tbirds and Durons only ran at 100mhz -x2 or 200mhz that would make your Cpu underclocked and Unstable.. check up on it if i'm wrong shoot me..

Reply: (edit)and Since the 200 mhz bus of older cpu's is supposed to be recognized it might not Supply the Cpu with enuff juice to be stable when you mess with the FSB if the Jumper is disabled it should only carry an FSB of 100 but can be Changed up to 133.. and if the 133 fsb is enabled then the Set FSB will be 133 and can be changed beyond 166

Reply: (edit)if you think you got a FAKE AMD CPU, go to their website and DOWNLOAD CPUINFO and CPUID and it will tell you the true info that your processor is sending out..

Reply: (edit)My computer processor should be at 400 mhz and the computer only reads it at 200 mhz. I have not changed any settings so I do not understand why it would be underclocked.
