Subject: Uncut 2600 and gigabyte 7n400 pro2 OS: XP Pro (if i ever get the CPU/Ram: 2600 / 1 gb corsair

Comment: I just put a machine together. Mobo = gigabyte 7n400 pro2 CPU = AMD 2600 (UNCUT, aka, production line and need to set clock speed manually) 1 gb Corsair Value Select 3200 When I turn it on, it goes for a few (up to 30ish) seconds and then gives 5 beeps like a siren and shuts off. I have tried various multiplier combos and some let it stay on longer than others. AND - if you try to turn it on right away after a shutdown, it only goes a few seconds. Maybe it is a setting? Maybe it is heating up too fast? Any help is good here!! Thanks!

Reply: (edit)Check your RAM...or possibly your video card. There are 3 different 2600+ CPUs, one Barton & two T-breds...they all run at 1.65v, but are clocked differently: 2600+/266 T-bred = 2133mhz = 16.0 x 133 2600+/333 T-bred = 2083mhz = 12.5 x 166 2600+/333 Barton = 1917mhz = 11.5 x 166 Don't try to overclock right from the start...use your factory settings to get it going. BTW, what do you mean by "uncut"?

Reply: (edit)Uncut means it is production line (my brother works there and it is one they use for testing) and clock speed has to be manually set. I got a vantec aeroflow instead of the TR2-M2 cooling fan and when i replaced it, it worked. So, I got Win XP going to format the HD (boot from CD) and it got all the way through to 100% and then it said "this drive couldnt be formatted. please be sure if it is scsi, that is set" and then gave me the 5 beep siren again and shut off. But it lasted probably 45 minutes. I know it recognizes the HD as ide, so... Ideas now?

Reply: (edit)I had this siren problem with the same board but with a 3000+ barton. all i had to do to solve it was to unclip the heatsink and turn it 180 degrees, so the clips were on the opposite clips to what they were originally on and it booted. The hard drive problem i dont know, but see if this works Duff Man
