I have just bought an AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma 2.7GHz Socket AM2+ 95W Dual-Core black edition Processor Model AD775ZWCGHBOX, and would like to know, how far you can overclock this CPU, and what would be the best Heatsink+fan that would be best suited ? Any links etc ?

I have a Gigabite GA-MA790X-DS4 motherboard, overclockable, with OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-8500CS 1066MHz Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2RPR10664GK)

Thank you BlueChip

You *should* be able to get it up to 3.1-3.2GHz. You don't have to do anything fancy to overclock a black edition CPU...simply raise the CPU multiplier from 13.5x to 16x. But don't do it all at once, raise the multi a little at a time & test for stability after each increase. You *may* have to increase the CPU voltage a bit to stabilize the overclock. Also, when you change the multiplier, it changes the RAM speed, so you may wanna increase the CPU frequency at some point to bring the RAM back up to full speed.

As with any other AMD overclock, always disable Cool 'n' Quiet, lock the PCI-e bus at 100MHz & disable ALL Spread Spectrum options.

Use this to check your settings & temps, & to stress test your settings:
