I need some information about my motherboard, like what fsb speed it is and what it can go too. If anyone has any info or knows of where i can find some i would be most greatfull. I currently have a celeron 733mhz and i want to know what the fastest cpu i can put in it. Thanks in advance
Rachel

Here is a website detailing the congnac.
You can also get a manual for the congac from the download link on this page.http://e4all.freeservers.com/mobos/mobos3.htm

I would like to disconnect the built on intel video card and run a 32meg nvidia pci card can someone tell me if it is possible cause when I put the new vid card in it freezes my sys at bios

I am currently using a 32meg nvidia pci card on my system. When I first installed it, I had the same problem. Go to the following website and you will find instructions on how to disable the onboard video so that your PCI card will work.

HP finally admits to using the E-Machines Tri-Gem Cognac motherboard. Perhaps in part, I'd like to think, due to me exposing it in their own forum last year after repeadedly being told by their techs it was an ASUS board.
Some info can be found here:::http://www.hp.com/cposupport/personal_computing/support_doc/bph07169.html
Dont believe all you read. They would have you believe that the Celeron, and only up to 800mhz, is the only processor that can be used.... Wrong..
The 810 chipset used on this board will, in theory, support up to a 1 ghz P-3 processor in the 100mhz flavor. If the guy above can run a 900 Celeron then I believe this is probably true.I am running a P-3/850 in mine and it does a very nice job in comparison to the old 700 Celeron. I have also upgraded my BIOS to the most recent V-307. You should consider that as well before upgrading. You'll find a download link at the HP site above. Dont forget memory.. Max out the memory, 2 256's for 512 mb total. you'll be glad you did...
Oh yeah, the latest Bios allows for disabling on-board video by allocating 0 memory to video.

As noted by Average Joe, above, the newest version of the BIOS for the Cognac MB allows for disabling the on-board video. However, if you are installing an nVidia based graphics card (as I have), I suggest downloading the latest nVidia drivers from the nVidia web site, upgrading to the latest Intel drivers for the i810 chipset (v. 6 or later) and leaving the on-board video active for use with a second monitor. Full instructions are available on Intel's support site, and the whole process involves only a few steps and a small investment of time.
Just for the record: If you own an HP computer (Pavilion or other), DO NOT follow HP's instructions for disabling the on-board video. The instructions provided by HP have at least two major errors that will completely screw up any installation of a new graphics card (I know this from experience! I tried to follow the HP instructions and got so frustrated I ended up returning the replacement card. It was six months before I worked up the courage to try again - this time with Intel's directions - and I didn't have a single problem completing the upgrade the second time around.).
As to the CPU -- I have installed a 1GHz Celeron (up from 700MHz) in my HP Pavilion 6738, which contains the Trigem Cognac MB, and have not had any problems. The latest BIOS, v3.07, available from HP (though it will work with any company's computer that has the Cognac) correctly recognized the chip and reset the FSB speed (from 66 to 100MHz) and the core voltage (to 1.75v) for the new CPU.
This upgrade is not supported by HP, but Intel's web site makes it clear that going from 700MHz to 1GHz is perfectly viable with the i810 chipset.
But, you must have the latest BIOS!
The only worry in such an upgrade is the heat generated by the faster processor. In my HP, I have 12v CPU fan sitting atop a plastic heat sink, attached to the CPU with thermal tape. (Of course, the fan/heat sink assembly is attached to the CPU socket with a metal clip.) Some people prefer thermal grease to the tape, but I've had no problems using tape on Celerons.
I hope this is helpful,
Rob

i have a hp pavilion 6735 with a 633 celeron. i do have a cognac board, with the updated bios. hp told me i could only go to a 645 mhz chip. this pc is about 1.7 years old. has hp used different cognac boards? i would really like to get a 1Ghz chip with a 100mhz fsb. please advise or provide me with any resources that might help.
thanx in advance

The latest BIOS, v3.07, available from HP =>

if you are going to replace your motherboard, you should be able to use any Micro ATX (thats the size and form) board. i would not recomend buying another cognac. for a very small amount more you can get a much better board.

if you have any trouble getting a new board in your box this page might help:
http://www.e4all.info/ecase_info/non_OEMmobo.htm
emachines and pavilions use the same cognac board. and thanx to brad for posting the link to this site to begin with.

So, I installed the 3.07 BIOS version. I changed the setting to 'Disable Onboard Video' and it still freezes at BIOS when trying to boot.
It stops between discovering the mouse and discovering Fixed 0 harddrive.
It's a Radeon 7000 PCI (of course) with 64 Megs of RAM. Is it just not going to work on this motherboard?

I have the same problem as Matt; Radeon 7000pci w/32mb. I, too, tried both the HP and Intel instructions after updating bios to 3.07. Locks up after initializing mouse at bootup. HELP!!!!!!!!!
