as the title says this cocerns all those with an amd xp 2000 and below processors...

i have just got an amd 2000 two weeks ago and my cpu temps are less than my old system ( duron750mhz)

my old system was hanging around at45C and full and 39C aat 0% usage..

i read alot about cpu cooling before buying my amdxp..so i decided to create a blow hole on the side left side panel of my case..attached a 92mm antec fan

and now my max temps are 41C at full load (tested using UT2k3 for over an hours play) and 28C at 0% usage..

and this has been cooled using a coolermaster heatsink and fan..which i bought for £7 at ebuyer.com, much better and value for money than those volcano etc fans..plus this fan only gives 34db ...very nice and quite...

i just finished playing nfshotpursuit2 demo and since i started writing this post my cpu temp has dropped from 41C to 32C..incredible!!!!within 1 minute...

so to all those with "ahh help me my cpu temps at 70C!!!!" create a blow hole on the case get a coolermaster fan and then some artic silver 3(which i am using and DOES make alot of difference in temps..Dont listen to those here who say artic silver doesn't work...i am a pc user who has actually got proof it works...)

doing these basic steps (if u can call them steps) u can achieve results just as neally as using a water cooling system...

my full pc specs are:

AMD XP 2000+ o/c to 2100+
512mb pc133
60gb ibm (additional 120gb coming soon)
20gb maxtor
geforce 2 mx
ati tv wonder
sonic vortex 2
liteon cdrw 48x12x48
hp cdrw 4x4x24
and 350 watt psu

please post your views....or comments..

PS..
once on a cold day my in the UK my temps were amazing..system 19C and 25C cpu at full load...WOW...

True about the blow hole. I have the same. It makes a large difference.

One question.

Why are you running your CPU overclocked, but you have pc133 memory???

Talk about test driving your Ferrari in the slow lane!

Whack in some 266 at least! Preferably some DDR333 like me!

I also bought a cheap fan, but the free HUGE fan I got would have hit me for $20 normally, so I would have spent $40 on cooling alone. It's a lot really.

Might try the Arctic Silver next summer. Summer is hot in Georgia!

i got pc133 ram since i got a epox 8kta3pro mobo..that only takes sdram..i would in the future after getting some £££ upgrade to a mobo that supports ddr...

my current mobo can handle cpu upto 2000+..but i've managed to overclock it to a 2100+ and it is possible to o/c to 2200+

i just read up on the coulour of the chips ie amd xp waffer (green/brown)after posting and i fond that the gren waffer chips are efficient at keeping the chip cooler than those with the brown waffer...and mine IS a green wafer..that probably helps the temps given in the original message above...

Oh good. Someone who agrees with me!

I said that on another posting ages ago. New green substance helps dissapate heat better, so cooler operating.

You are lucky. I go the brown (TURD) version.

LMAO. It is good really. A bit warmer than yours, but not much.

I have a pentium 286. It is going at 3,403 Mega Herts. The BYOS says the computer is 65C. What do I do? Also, my mouse is jerky and my monitor flickers when I load Windows 95/97. Dos is okay. Doom 2 runs good. Does anybody know why I am running so hot? I cut a hole in the side of my PC with a carving knife and am using a BOX fan to keep it cool. Dosnt do much. Should I use ice? Would that be bad for the computer board? I NEED HELP!!! I dont want my PC to explode. I have childern and I am concerned about their safety with exploding computer boards. Please reply soon. I am using my wifes lap-TOP to write this message.
