What, if anything, is so special about the Thoroughbred and Palomino XP CPU's?

I have one of each and was going to put them up on Ebay and just wondered what the bid deal was.

Thanks for any input.

Performance per clock cycle is pretty much identical between the two. The difference is that the Thoroughbred is a newer CPU that is built with 130nm technology(Palomino=180nm tech).

Because of the Thoroughbred's smaller transistors, it draws less power and runs significantly cooler. Older motherboards may not be compatible with the Thoroughbred (though BIOS updates can sometimes correct that).

The Palomino core (model 6) is the older XP model. It has a larger core (0.18 micron) & runs at 1.75v.

The Thoroughbred (model 8) is the next step up in XP cores. It's smaller (0.13 micron) & runs at 1.50-1.65v depending on revision...there was an A or B. The Tbred-B is considered to be the better of the two & generally overclocks higher. And the Tbred usually runs cooler than the Palomino. Some of them were factory unlocked...if you have on of them, it's a definite selling point.

Thanks.

Good, seems the TB's are going for about double the price of their equivalent standard models, but one guy is not exactly lying, but is pushing the Palomino as something special and ended up getting about double for it as well.

So, are we saying that the Palomino itself has no extra selling points?

I have one of each is why I need to know.

The only selling point is like jackbomb said, "Older motherboards may not be compatible with the Thoroughbred". In that case, the board *may* be compatible with the Palomino.

OK, your right, Jam, didn't catch that.

Alright, I should be all set to make the big bucks now. :)

Thanks much.
