Comment: Hi, I want to try different tweaks to my computer to improve its performance. There are a number of things I want to try. However, I don't want to just take other people's word that the tweaks will improve performance, I want some objective means of verifying that. What programs do you use to analyze whether changes you are making to your system are having the desired effect? Phil "Beware the barrenness of a busy life." - Socrates

Reply: (edit)There are a lot of benchmark programs out there that do exactly that! For graphic/game performance I suggest 3DMark 2000 from Futuremark (fromer Madonion) because it's old enough to support your hardware. If you run in trouble with this there's also a 3DMark 99 version. And SiSoft's Sandra is also a nice program for all sorts of system information!
