Specs:
AMD 2500+ @ 2200Mhz, 512 Corsiar Value Slect PC3200, Asus A7N8X-X, PSU 350W Eagle model no. DR-B350ATX v2.03 (came with Aurora 2 case)

I am now testing my Overclock stability with Prime95 v238. At first the test could not run (hardware errors) So I upped the CPU voltage. Just run Prime95 at CPU vCore 1.725 and the 'torturetest' has found a hardware problem. At least it passed the first 3 tests @ 1024K FFT length. The 1st and 2nd in the next batch of tests @ 8K FFT lengths passed but the 3rd didn't. (Fatal Error: Final result was 09F4EEB6, expected: 26C78657) the test ran for 27 mins.

So my question to anyone who knows, do i up the CPU vCore even more (just before error it was running at 55deg) So more voltage = i hope not. Instead I was thinking, how about my RAM voltage? I'm not actually overclocking the RAM am I? Im running it at its specified frequency? I don't know... up the RAM voltage or the CPU voltage?

Please don't tell me about cooling, I know I'll need a new HS. Thats not the issue here. The issue is testing and stabilty. BTW any of u 2500 ppl running @ 2200 plz tell me ur voltages and parts.

Thankyou

- what makes you think you need a new HS? What do you have now? If it's the stock setup that came with the retail CPU, use it! Also, just so you know...if you remove the thermal pad & replace it with paste, you void the CPU warranty. What's your average room temp & system temp? How many case cooling fans do you have?

You can try increasing the RAM voltage...as you said, you're not overclocking it, but many sites recommend running it at 2.6v or 2.7v. Increasing your CPU voltage another step may be necessary as well.

If you wanna torture test your CPU, try running TOAST instead of Prime95. If it survives 20 minutes without locking up, it'll handle anything else you throw at it. You can get it here:

I'd do a memory test before I go to Prime95 or Toast. Download a Memtest 86 here:

You can play with Vdimm during this test.
Increase of Vcore normally increases your stability, but brings heat problem. So cooling is critical also. If you have better cooling, your current Prime95 test may last longer than 28 min.

Why are you so concerned about the failures of a torture test, is your PC experiencing stability issues running @ 2.2Ghz?.

If your PC can do 2.2GHz @ with a lower Vcore at a cooler temperature without errors in windows and other applications you should not bother cranking up the Vcore just to pass all torture test(s).

Btw passing every torture test does not certify your PC as crash-free.

well prime95 isnt very consistant. Same setup as before and it has errors.

Even though I set my voltage to 1.725 why does it go to 1.76?
