Hi,

I just overclocked my system for the first time a few weeks ago. Here are a few of my specs:

asus a7v
amd tbird 1.0 ghz
pc133 sdram

I successfully got it to overclock to 1130 Mhz (8.5*133), but before I did that, I fiddled with the multiplier and FSB to go a little higher. The problem is that when I turn on my computer, the screen goes blank during POST. When windows xp loads, the screen turns back on by itself. If that was the only problem, I would probably be happy, but now whenever i play certain games like age of mythology, or run tests on direct3d, the screen just goes black again. I thought this was an odd problem, so I decided to do some research on the web but didn't find any information on it. I don't know if this piece of information would help, but before the monitor stopped turning on during POST, the screen was really distorted on the same screen. So anyway, if anyone could provide me with some help I would greatly appreciate it.

Sounds like the video card you have cant support the current FSB speed, when you increase the FSB the PCI & AGP all go up in speed aswell, which causes these devices to run hotter than usual. Did you try clocking it back to the orignal speed? If you did, did it still do the video problem? If yes, you possibly caused some damage to your video card, if its fine after clocking it to the default, then you cant over clock that video card to that speed, try upgrading the video card. Hope this helps...

If you got a option for voltage in the Cmos\Bios for the cpu put it higher exp:+5% ,+7.5% ,+10% , take +5% that will stabilize the cpu in overclock but don't go to high one step at the time always try the lower one's before & watch your temp max.of 60c full load (The real max. for Athlon is 85c but over 60c could be unstable).

The other thing is what it could be is your RAM if you bought cheep Memory that could give you hard time in overclocking.

I don't think that is your video card cuz you already got problems when you power up your computer.

BTW:(Tip)If your cpu is unlock you can lower the clock on the cpu to go higher on FBS.
