Hi i installed new 2100xp cpu it worked fine. But while reading forums i noticed one said that excessive cpu silver compound could be bad because it is conductor of electricity AND COULD MAKE CPU HOTTER so i removes it and try to remove excess from the cpu which made it more like spread. i lightly try to clean the cpu with terry cloth once it spead beyond whaT i believe is called the die.My question is did i kill it. Because i can start the system and it runs for a minute no video just flickers the monitor as if it reboots over and over for that minute then shuts down. Once it shuts down i have to unplug power cord from power supply to get to start up again. Any advice would help thanks

I have had similar experiances with my computer, the only way i fixed it was to get a new PSU, although that may not help your CPU!

I once put to much compond on a P75Mhz and i never got it all off...

these where not related though!
