I have an Intel 3.2 Prescott, Intel 915GAG MBoard, 1Gb PC 3200 (512x2), Nvidia 6600GT PCIe, 600 Wt Power Supply, and a Zalman Heat Sink/Fan. When I use some programs (DOOM3, etc) I can play fine for a few minutes then my temp alarm goes off (66C). If I don't exit the game the sytem simply stops and the monitor immediately goes blank, then I have to reboot the system.
What is going on here?????

Raise the temp threshold in the BIOS to about 72'C.
B4 you criticize a bigger man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, you're a mile away, and you have his shoes.

First I would change the alarm setting to the area of 75C. If you are using any kind of fan controler, make sure the cpu fan is set to auto, especially when playing games. Also look over your cooling setup carefully. If you're overheating to a point where the system stops, something isn't right. Make sure all the fans are functioning and that you aren't underspinning them if you have fan controls. You should have at least two case fans, one in back as exhaust(120mm) and one in front as intake(80mm). I'm not familiar with the Zalman, but make sure the four clips are firmly snapped into the mobo and locked down. Perhaps switch back to the intel heatsink, I heard it's hard to beat. I personally use a thermaltake tsunami and my temps are idling at 41C.

hey man, i have prescott 3.4 with abit aa8 duramax, i had zalman cooler and i had to get rid of it due to my alarm going off, im not sure whether its just the zalman not agreeing with the cpu, whack the stock cooling on, thats what i did, the stock cooling u get with the prescott is dam good, i can get to around 4.0ghz with mine.
