Comment: Hey all, I had a problem a few a month or so ago when the comp would randomly turn itself off only when I play games - after posting on here people thought it was perhaps the PSU or an overheating issue. To test this I played with the case open for a while, and it worked, but then a week ago it started turning off again even with the case off. I just bought a brand new one, with 5 case fans and a more powerful (and better make) PSU. Fine when just on net etc, but same thing still happens when I play games! I am thinking it is maybe the CPU? Is there an easy way to find out? I don't know much about CPU cooling/heatsink, can I just get a better fan and new heatsink? (I am using retail one at the mo and not overclocking) Thanks for any help you can give! TheWake

Reply: (edit)Think I may have just answered my own question! I checked the CPU Temp in BIOS and it was 63, I thought that was high considering it was idle. I opened up the comp, took off the retail fan, and guess what? the top of the heat sink where the air passes through was about 75% covered in a layer of dust! Cleaned that off, put fan back on, checked bios and idle is now 43-45 :D
