Ive finally done it!Got my 2000+xp running at 161mhz/12.5=2gig(shows up as 2400+xp).My temp hasn't gone above 42'C.Sorry to all the people ive bugged with my stupid questions whilst on this conquest.Has anyone got any pcmark04 results they can post so I can compare mine. Thanks to you all.(A special thanks to JAM as I bothered him more than anyone). p.s does anyone know of a 2000+xp being clocked any higher than 2gig?

Congrats! Now...have you run any stress tests to make sure your system is stable?

Try TOAST to max out the CPU temp & PRIME95 for an overall stress test. You can find them here:

ive run pcmarko4 for an hour(cpu usage at 100% most of the time)and the temp didn't go above 42'C.The athlon xp's have a max temp of 85'C so I can't see there being a problem. As for coolers Ive got a QTEC silent hsf 3ghz+, and as a case fan ive got an aerocool static x noisless.

question is...are you running your memory in sync with the FSB?

if you are, that's huge and it's pushing that pc2100 hard or is the memory running at the stock speed of 133 (266 ddr)

like asked before, is it stable...have you run memtest86

"are you running your memory in sync with the FSB?"

Very good question by Tbird4point6LX97. If you're not running in sync (& my guess is you're not), your memory is bottlenecking your system. It's all well & good that you were able to get a decent overclock & your FSB up to 161mhz, but if your RAM is only at 133mhz, it's a waste. If you wanna take full advantage of it, get PC2700 or PC3200

BTW, I forgot to mention...try using a different test. I think pcmark04 is more for benchtesting than stress testing...you wanna really load your system to see if it will hold up. Try TOAST & Prime95....

Well guys.I did the TOAST test for about 3 hours and my temp reached 49'C.Is this ok?The reason I didn't leave it any longer is because the temp was the same for an hour so I assumed that was as high as it was gonna go!

A great deal with temps is ambient temp.

49c is acceptable to some and not to others.

I your case I'd say it was ok.

So far, so good...now move on to Prime95 & let that run for several hours (at least), & as Tbird4point6LX97 recommended, let it go for 12 hrs. If you have no problems, your PC should be able to handle anything you throw at it....
