HELP! I'm unable to start up the PC! The last user started the machine up with a floppy in the drive and this has caused the problem (If i'm not wrong).
The BIOS are set to boot off the floppy first, CD 2nd and HD last. Currently all that happens is that i reach a black sreen with a single cursor blinking near the top. (Looks like i'm in the command prompt)
Is there anyway for me to rectify this problem without reinstalling the OS?
Try resetting the CMOS, either by removing the CMOS battery & reinserting it after a brief wait, or through the CMOS reset jumper on your motherboard (if your board has one, which it should ... check your m/b user guide).
Set the bios to boot from the hard drive first and if this does not work you will need a boot up disk to see if your partitions are there as well as your OS. You can also boot with the windows cd and try to do a repair install so you wont lose your files.
