Hi all,
I recently upgraded my motherboard to a Epox 8K3A and with an Athlon 2000XP. Everything is working fine except that when I shut down the system and unplug from the wall and then plug in again the system starts without having to press the power button! Anybody any ideas as to why this is? The system powers down without any problem, and if you DON'T unplug from the wall, the power button starts the system normally! Any suggestions appreciated. My complete system specs are:

Athlon 2000XP.
Epox 8K3A mobo with latest BIOS.
300W Power supply.
Windows XP Pro
512mb RAM

If you look in your BIOS there is a setting for turn on/off after power failure
By pulling the plug you've created a power failure....running a 8KHA+...peter

Steve E. Sounds like the type of system i'm about to get, have you tried overclocking it? if so how far have you got it while stable? have you had any problems? what heat sink and fan do you have? and what temps are coming off the cpu?

thanks.

Whiteshadow -

No haven't tried overclocking it yet - I've only had it all working for a couple of days! Besides it so damn quick I don't think it really needs it right now.

A word of warning though - make sure you've got adequate cooling through your case. I had a twin Pentium III setup previously in this case which didn't need any internal fans but I've recently added two 80mm fans to help keep everything cooler - the XP chip was running at about 65-75 before, but now runs at a more sensible 52-55.

You certainly get a lot of bang for your buck with these Athlons ...
