Subject: Strange CPU Temp behaviourOS: Windows XPCPU/Ram: Athlon XP 2100+/1GB |
Comment: I'm getting a bit worried about my CPU temp! I usually use AIDA32 to show system and CPU temps but after I did some overclocking the CPU sensor dissappeared from this program. Instead I used Easy Tune 4 as I have a Gigabyte motherboard. This reports 50 - 55C which I'm quite happy with. However I've just installed and setup Motherboard Monitor 5 and this shows one of the sensors as 72 C! When MBM is open the CPU temp in ET4 also goes upto 72C and strangely the entry comes back in AIDA32 as 72C aswell. When I close MBM 5 Easy Tune 4 returns to normal but AIDA is staying with the 70s temp. What is going on and which temp should I believe? I'm a bit worried I'm gonna have a molten CPU and motherboard if I'm not careful!

Reply: (edit)I could tell you a lil' bit about eztune4. But it would be mostly profane, so I won't go into it too much. But, just wondering, did you try and oc with it? If you did, you have probably noticed some wierd readings concerning the PCI and AGP settings. They usually go down when you up FSB. I finally uninstalled it. But it was a cool look'n console. I was also running an AMD 2100+ XP Palomino, which is locked. If you want to unlock it, just read this because the 2100 is a lil' bit different when it comes down to unlocking one of those. http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1009 YO
