If I overclock my 7800GT to 600Mhz and the out of the box clock speed of another graphic card (say a 7900GS theoretically) says 600MHz, then all things being equal (on board RAM etc.) Do I have the same performance as the 7900GS?
(I don't know the clock speed of the 7900GS, I just pulled it out of my head for the example).
I happen to use some old ATI 9600 cards and have overclocked all three of 'em.
Believe me, overclocking a 9600se to anything won't make a 9600 nonpro or overclocking my 9600 nonpro won't make it anything like the 9600xt. Lotta things like 64bit, 128bit, 256bit interface and the number of pipelines make a big difference. The latest driver might be a kick in the tail for one card and nearly seriously hamper the performance of a different model card.
I agree with Saber only if all things are equal but, completely agree with jam that all things are not equal.
