I am trying to find overclocking or tweaking software for my single AMD Turion 64 ML-34 processor computer. Yes, it only has one processor powering the compter.

It is a Gateway motherboard, so it can not be overclocked in the BIOS.

The CPU speed on a laptop is variable. On AMD systems, Cool 'n' Quiet / PowerNow! technology is used. Basically what it does it detect the system load, then adjust the CPU clock speed, CPU voltage & fan RPMs accordingly. This is done to help keep the temperature & the noise down & to conserve battery life.

If you overclock, the CPU will run hotter (possibly overheat) & the battery life between charges will drop way off. Not only that but the cooling fan will rev higher causing more noise. If you wanna try overclocking software, knock yourself out...just be aware that you may be doing more harm than good.

It's Pointless trying to overclock a processor on a laptop. The fatest single core S754 Turion was the ML-44 @ 2.4 but that's going for an arm and a leg. You can buy a Turion ML-40 @ 2.2ghz though for 78.99 + free shipping on ebay. This is the best you are going to do for that price to squeeze every ounce of performance out of that laptop.

Thanks Cobra, that was a choice that I somehow overlooked.

Probfixer, I sure wish that software was combatible with my cpu socket, but after installing it and failed attempt I then tried the Fusion software.

Seems like when I try to use any software (powerstrip, riva, ATI Tool, ATI Tray tools) I don't get any of the choices that matter (like to control the system fan and control the MHz of the video/cpu processor).

Fusion is helping, but I had to make a custom profile with minimal help from the program.

Still... the game is still performing better than without the program (AMD Fusion) installed.

Thanks a bunch for your help guys, ima definitely look into the upgrade the processor option as soon as I can.
