Now the question i have and i am hoping someone can answer is am i able to throw in a 1.8Ghz from a 1.2Ghz but here is the kicker. Will the bus speed of 200mhz provent me from hitting that goal, and if so what would be the next faster cpu i can throw into the laptop for a lil more kick if i can. The Athlon XP-M 1400+ comes in both 100MHz & 133MHz (200MHz & 266MHz effective) bus. The first thing you want to do is check for what you got in yours.
Anyhow, if it turns out that you have the 100MHz (1400+) version, then the motherboard in your Presario 731US most likely does not support anything beyond that bus frequency. Therefore, you better scrap that 1.8GHz plan.
