Im a bit confused here, well you see if you have a pentuim processor at 478 socket can you use it in the new 775 socket

The simple answer is No! The socket is basically the number of pins on your processor so it physically wont fit. You can get adaptors but it really isnt worth it (isnt the 775 only used by AMD not Intel anyway?)

S775 is Intel Prescott.
S754 is AMD A64 which also provides S939 and S940.
