Hello everyone, Is there anything i can do to speed up the start up process? My PC takes up to 4-5 minutes to start up. I went into the configuration utility and only checked five programs i wish to start up with the pc. However it still takes long 4-5 minutes to start. I have a Dell desktop running on windows xp pentium 4 2.66GHz w/ 1.25GB of RAM. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
If the computer has taken this long since new, it may be normal. My 1.75 Ghz Sempron with 512 MB RAM and Windows XP takes about that long for me. If you want to try to shorten it, however, run disk cleanup and then disk defragmenter (you should run these two programs at least once a month, anyway, or at least have them schedueled.)
Hope this helps,
-Trent
Thanks for your response. When i first purchased my computer the start up time was much faster. It would start up in half the time. I did run a disc cleanup and defrag along with a virus scan to no avail.
