I thought AMD was suppose to kill off all single core processors from it's line by Q2 at the lastest in 2007, but according to this roadmap both single core Athlon 64's and Sempron 64's are going to continue to evole. They too will also make the jump to 65nm with continous updates to follow after that well into Q4 of 2007 and beyond.

It seems that the majority have 512k L2 unless you get into "Extreme Performance" category. But the Q3 2007 CPUs all have 2MB L3? The Sempron/Sparta has 215k L2? I wonder if that's a misprint?

I really don't see the point in have the Sempron 64 single cores around anymore when the Athlon 64 single cores have become the new value line for AMD. Unless AMD plans on keeping the Sempron 64 around and transforming it into some type of future value dual-core processor line with 2 x 128 L2 cache. If that is the case then that would prob end up retiring the Athlon 64 single core.

Who knows, but it looks like single core AMD cpu's are going to be hanging around for at least 2 more years until AM3 comes out in early 2009.

Jam I think I found the answer to your question about all the processors having L3 cache by Q3 of 2007. This was just posted today on tom's hardware site. This should answer your question.

The only thing I can think of why the Sempron would have 215kb of L2 cache is if AMD is boosting more L2 cache to its low end cache Sempron model from 128kb L2 cache to 215kb of L2 cache.

No love for the AMD mobile platform getting DDR3 in 2008 though. Wonder why? considering DDR3 will use less volts then DDR2 does.
