What ya' need it for? Gaming?

The price looks right I guess.

What cha' need a floppy drive for???

I don't like sony burners, firmware is crap. Go for something like a pioneer 109, yes they make black ones too.

Is there really a lot of performance difference between a 64 3500+ cpu and a 3400+ ???
Because the price difference is US $100!

Good luck.

Peace.

Awfully pricey setup...

Here's my take:

1. Personally, I would never pay over $100 for a case, especially for one w/o a PSU...I don't care how pretty it is.

2. Do you intend on taking advantage of SLI? If not, there are cheaper boards that are just as good.

3. Video card - arguably the best available right now...but is it worth spending over $350?

4. PSU - 550 watts is overkill

5. CPU - the Winchester has the better memory controller & it's supposedly slightly faster. Go with a 3200+ Winchester OEM CPU (see point # 8)

6. RAM - you're spending WAY too much. You can get 2 x 512MB of PC3200 for less than $90 (CAS 2.5). The premium you're paying for CAS 2 isn't worth it.

7. "What cha' need a floppy drive for???"

It's stupid NOT to have a floppy drive. They may not be used very often, but they're cheap & many diagnostics can be (& should be) run from DOS mode from a bootable floppy. Flashing the BIOS is usually done from a floppy as well

8. CPU Cooling fan - if you're not gonna use the stock HSF, there's not much point buying a retail CPU. The moment you mount the Thermaltake, you'll void the 3 yr warranty.

Asus A7N8X-X
1800+ @ 8 x 210MHz
768MB PC3200
Asus A9550 128MB/128-bit
Gamer Edition
WinME/WinXP Pro
