No!!!!!!!

Get a 2500+ Barton for $70.00
A Abit NFS-S ver.2 for $90.00

Bring the FSB to 400MHz and you got a 3200+ Barton!

Why are you shopping on Ebay? Buy from legitimate sites. Try Newegg.com

If you want a solid board, you can never go wrong with nForce 2, specifically one like the NFS-S ver.2. It is very overclock friendly.

If you only want to buy from eBay, there is nothing with that but your choice is limited to what eBay has @ that moment.

Get a mobile XP 2500+ or 2600+ Barton core and the NFS-S ver.2 and also some PC3200 memory and you will get a 3200+ with those components. Right now my mobile 2600+ runs @ 2520Mhz stable, which is way beyond a 3200+

I think they mean ABIT NF7-S

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-127-166&depa=0

or this:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-127-166R&depa=0

People get the mobile Bartons cuz the multiplier is unlocked. Don't waste your money getting an XP3200+, the 2500+ is cappable of running just as fast & it's a lot cheaper. And get PC3200 RAM to go along with it...

There is no turning back, now that you've woken up the demon in me...

jam,

Thanks for the correction, I can't imagine that I copied and pasted that (NFS-S ver.2 twice) or thrice now without noticing the misspell.

I guess that proves that theory..."The recognition of words does not always involve a complete analysis ofthe entire letter sequence"

solja,

Try Newegg for the mobile 2500+, I got mine from there.

Don't bother hunting down the rare 2500+ unlocked barton. It runs great at the stock 11 multi anyway. Go with the mobile 2500+ if anything.

128MB GeForce FX 5800

Stick with good quality PC3200 unless you plan on gettin an unlocked mobile barton. Then go with PC4000. PC3200 runs at 400MHz PC4000 runs at 500MHz. You always wont your ram at the same speed as your FSB.

Ya, I forgot to mention I had a Abit NF7-S rev. 2

I spent $20.00 on my 450W power supply a year ago and it's still going strong! Some people say don't go cheap on the power supply, but I haven't had a hich. Even if you wont a great power supply don't pay $150. I got a copper base cpu coller at Best Buy for $12 with the fan! It cools my overclocked Barton great. I get 47*C full load! Make shure your coller has a copper base.

Great CPU, good choice! Not bad price on ram either. Go for a 36GB WD raptor for your HD (A hard drive is the slowest componet in a computer so don't go for less then the best). If you need more space also get a 80-160GB WD 7200rpm drive.

PC3700 466Mhz
PC4000 500MHz

johnoh is right that PC4000 is overkill simply because if you can get 500MHz out of the NForce 2 chipset your the first in the world. So go with PC 3500 or if you plan on overclocking the hell out of it go for PC3700.

Almost any large copper base cooler will cool it fine. The main thing is the case temp. If you keep the case temp as cool as possible with a copper base cooler you shouldn’t have much trouble. Adding a air duck helps a lot with cooling also.

anyone who reads a little then thinks a lot is doing everyone a favor. That's why I write only a little. Usually.

"now the only question is what cpu fan should i use? is Zalman Pure Cooper anygood? if im going to oc it & what kind of thermal paste?"

your ratio to writing:reading is starting to get too high

I recommend you buy the following components (I have them and they work a dream):

* Abit NF7-S Motherboard
* AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Mobile
* 2 x 256MB PC3200 DDR RAM

Buy an OEM CPU and get a Cooler Master Aero 7+, as someone has already suggested. Then you just flick the FSB upto 200/400MHz and the multiplier to 11. I have mine running at 2200MHz right now.
