OS: Windows 2000 pro and Suse
CPU/Ram: p4 3330mhz

im wondering if a server like a dual xeon/opteron would be good for gaming with the right mobo. i've read an article about a dual xeon setup holing its ground with the athlons and pentium 4's, so i was wondering that if you had the right board, would a dual cpu set up be the best gaming system.

p4 3.0ghz @ 222X15=3330mhz
512mb pc3200 dual channel @222mhz
80gb wd hdd/40gb maxtor when on linux
8x agp geforce 6200 @ 530/585can't unlock extra pipes. plz help if you can

Most newer games are task the GPU more than anything else on your system, so having the right board and a dual cpu is nothing is you have a video card that is up to snuff.

alot of games and applications can now support dual processor so yes it could be a very good gaming system. As mentioned other components are important too such as Graphics and RAM. Also I wouldn't run a server OS they aren't the best for gaming. Try XP 64bit edition or your Suse.

thanx for your help, i was just wondering on this. but right now i don't have enough money to build a server gaming system at the moment.
