I am thinking of upgrading my celeron d to a amd sempron. Should i get a regular sempron, or a sempron 64. Should i get the 2800+, or the 3000+. And, what kind of motherboard chipset should i get with it?
I have a 512MB PC3200 unbuffered no ECC memory. Does the Buffered and ECC kind make a big difference?

Get the Sempron64 & make sure it has 256k L2 cache...some only have 128k L2, avoid them. The 2800+ is the best deal (about $76 at newegg). Buffered/ECC RAM is generally for use in servers...you have the right stuff (unbuffered, non-ECC).

Summary: I know this is about the Sempron 64, but just to clarify what doug_brit wrote...there are 3 different Semprons: - the socket A Sempron is basically just a renaming of the Athlon XP & the model numberi...
