Hey i am getting a new cpu and i wanted to know which cpu i should get the choices are an amd sempron 3400+ 2.0ghz/256kb L2 cache/1.6 ghz fsb/socket 754 supporting 64bit technology for $154.00cdn or an intel celeron d 351 3.20ghz/256kb L2 cache/533mhz fsb/socket 775.
Which one should i consider?
Thanks...

Well, you'll obviously have to buy a motherboard too. I'm an AMD guy, but the S754 will be very limited in terms of upgradability. At least the S775 will hold you over for a while, & you can always upgrade to a *real* CPU in the future...lol
ASUS A7N8X-X
Athlon XP 1800+
8.5 x 200MHz
1024MB PC3200 2.5-3-3-7
Asus A9550GE/TD 128MB
WinME/WinXP Pro SP2

Okay, so should i get the intel celeron d 3.2ghz or the intel pentium 4 2.66ghz processor for 149$cdn?
Thanks

Funny thing about Semprons 64's is that they do come in 939 socket form. Problem is the only companies that have the Semprons 64 in 939 form are namebrand pc companies at this time and they have had 939 Semprons 64's for a while now.
I saw an ABS pc that has a Sempron 64 3200+ on a the 939 ATI X200 motherboard.
I don't know why the Sempron 64's 939s are only released to namebrand companies at this time, but from what I read the Sempron 64's 939's should be released to the public soon and when they are, the old 754 socket is pretty much dead in the water.
You are better off getting a 939 motherboard.
As for Intel, better off just getting the Celeron D 64bit that is on the LGA775 motherboard that is also 64bit. I wouldn't bother wasting your money on the old Pentium 4 2.66ghz 32bit, because those are on the old socket 478 and the old socket 478 is not 64bit compatible.

Yea, I had read that there are S939 Sempron64's & as you said, they'll be released to the general public sooner or later.

Um.. Or whatever that AMD processor was for the socket 7 that reached like.. 600 Mhz.. It gave the socket 7 new life for a few months.. XD even though AMD only made the K6-2 for notebooks so I have read and it was very hard to find them to put them in use for a desktop board.
