Hey ppl. We all know the Socket A 2500+ will easily do 200Mhz FSB which = a 3200+! Which i have done with my 2500+ and A7N8X-E.

So the 2500+ runs at 11 x 166FSB stock right, and so does the sempron 2600???

Am i able to clock the FSB of a sempron 2600+ to 200MHz FSB?? I know this won't run as fast as my athlon but i would like to try it.

Also is the clock multiplier of the sempron locked?

Thanks everyone in advance!

If you have a non nForce2 chipset based motherboard, you can try the L5 bridge mod on your Sempron to unlock the CPU's multiplier. FYI the Socket A Semprons use the 10.5x multipler not 11x.

Eitherway you ought to be able to push the FSB to 200MHz or more with a board that offers the necessary overclock options.

The 2500+ AXP is a Barton core with 512k L2 cache. The 2600+ Sempron is a Tbred core with 256k L2. You should have no problem running it at 200MHz (400FSB) with the right board, but it won't perform as good as your overclocked 2500+ Barton. And yes, the multi is locked.

Ok, so my A7N8X-E will do the job right?

Not going to stuff around with the jumper mod.

Are you sure the multi is 10.5?

The 2500 Barton runs at 1.83GHz and so does the sempron so wouldn't they both be 11 x 166?

Daniel.

What I don't understand is why you'd want to downgrade your CPU?

You have an AXP 2500+ Barton overclocked to 2.2GHz, correct? What would be the point of installing a 2600+ Sempron Tbred & overclockng it to 2.2GHz? You'd be losing performance due to the drop in the L2 cache from 512k to 256k. If this is just an "is it possible" question, then it's already been answered...YES, the 2600+ Sempron WILL overclock to 2.2GHz with your ASUS board. A vcore increase will probably be necessary. I was able to run a Sempron 2500+ on my ASUS A7N8X-X at 10.5 x 200mhz @ 1.80v, but I moved the Sempron to my KT600 board when I picked up an AXP-M 2400+ Barton which I'm currently running at 2.3GHz (11.5 x 200MHz)

Thanks Jam, yeah it was just a simple can it do it question. I'll probably go out and buy an Asus A7N8X-X board or something to see what it can do.

I have the same M/B as you and a 2600+ Sempron.. Its running at a 200MHz FSB @ 2.2GHz with stock voltages, now you know it would work! The highest I dared go was 2.3GHz but I had to increase the V-core and the system was stable but for the extra 100MHz the heat wasnt worth it. I dont think they could reach anythig more than or even run at 2.4GHz
I think it was Sisoft Sandra that quoted the effective PR rating was something like a 3180+ heh what an odd rating..
