OK, first off let give you guys an idea of what my mmobo capable of. NOT MUCH!! (lol)
ITs a softclockers dream!! RAM timing's, FSB CONTROL, ASync 33/66 lock, Spread spectrum control, AN option called turbo mode, and some other basics, hardly what one would consider an Oc'ing mobo.

Anyway for a while I was running 220x14=3.08ghz, FSB=880mhz, RAM=440mhz, I was happy with this cause it was stable, but now tha I have my SATA WD hooked up I can't even pass a 3mhz increase, WHY?? any higher then that my bios wont reconize that the drive is even there!! non existent!! Whats the deal? I've tried every combination of bios settigs but to no avail! Is there any hope for me with this mobo? its a ECS 865pe-a (2.0) with the latest bios.

Your rig's so slow that Windows needs to restart in order for mouse movements to take effect.

*my best guess* is that your pci bus isnt locking when you overclock so it's speed is increased along with your processor's fsb
and harddrives dont like that
see if there's an option to lock your pci bus

i dont know if this is causing your problem for sure since you ran another harddrive before you got the WD sata drive without the problem but since no one else has halped you yet...

common sense isn't very common

Thanks giggles, it does appear that way, I locked the bus at 33/66, but it as no affect on the raptor(fu**!!) I wanted to get a new board anyway so I can clock my 2.8 @ 3.5.

My bios is just couple of weeks old, and ECS just released a patch for it a few days ago that fixed a shutdown problem(which I have). I'm thinking i can revert back to my old bois to see if that has any effect on it.

Again thanx, keep'em coming!!

Your puter is so slow that Windows needs to restart in order for mouce movements to take effect.
