Specs: Windows XP Home Edit, Dell Dimension 4600i

Compaq Prosignia Desktop computer donated to Hilton Head Island Computer Club. Access is password protected and person donating does not know the password. I understand this problem can be overcome by "changing the BIOS on the motherboard" but I don't have any idea on how to accomplish this feat.
The motherboard is:
SP#118053-001 AS# 010233-101 REV BN
There is another number on the sticker that is only partly readable:
P21?3BNDA??7NA
Manufactured in Mexico

I am unable to boot the system and gain any more insight as to nomenclature. Is there someone that could offer me some assistance or direction to solve this dilemna. GMM

You belong to a computer club & none of the members know how to bypass this?

If you need to access the BIOS & don't know the password, just unplug the power then remove the lithium coin battery from the motherboard...wait a few seconds, then replace the battery. This will clear the password & reset ALL BIOS settings to their defaults. On the next bootup you will have to enter the BIOS & correct all the settings again. To access the BIOS, you just have to hit the appropriate key during bootup...it could be DEL, F1, F2, F10 or possibly something else. It may even be displayed on the screen during bootup such as "Press F10 to enter setup".

I followed instructions given by jam to remove lithium battery, replace battery and reset BIOS setting and reboot computer. However, I am still unable to log onto the computer. The facts are as follows:
Compaq DeskPro EP/SB series
Pentium IV processor = 500 MHz
Processor stepping = 673
Processor speed = 500/100 MHz
ROM date = 08/06/99
ROM family = 686T2
System Board Revision = 01
Operating System = Microsoft Windows NT

I know the user name, but cannot obtain domain password; therefore, I am unable to log onto the computer. A technical person at the computer club told me it was a BIOS-related problem. Do you have any other suggestions on how to override or change the domain password?

Remove the lithium battery on the M/B but wait about 10 minutes or more, not a few seconds, I believe.
