Replaced the fan & laptop still shuts down!

Fujitsu Lifebook a3120
March 25, 2010 at 23:32:06
Specs: Windows Vista
My laptop started shutting off without warning.
When I would restart it would say fan error,
and only stay on a minute or 2 before shutting
down. After looking at several forums I
decided to clean the heat sink and put in a
new fan.

My laptop still says fan error every time I start
it up, then shuts off a few minutes later. I can
hear the new fan running. What am I missing?
I need help please.

check the temps using a program like core temp. It might be over heating. Check that the fan is spinning. Check that your fan has the yellow data cable and not just the red and white power. The yellow will tell the mobo the speed. If you are sure its not overheating you may be able to disable auto shutdown in bios. did u use new theral paste? Coudl it be a differnt fant hat not your cpu fan in the laptop?
