Hi, I have a Pentium 3 computer with AMI BIOS. I just changed the graphics card to a vanta 16MB(This is my work computer). When I try to on the computer, it gives me a repeating beep, 6 in a row then pause then 6 in a row again without stopping. I fixed the old card back and I still received the same sound. I tried to reseat the RAM cards, graphic card and the LAN card, I still receive this problem. I've recorded the beeps: http://www.syaheerbmw.com.ru/biosbeep.wav(1.8mb)
I hope someone can help me in this matter, thanks...

6 long beeps or short, i reall dont think there is a difference though. These beeps mean that there is something worng with the ram.
When you hit that start button, the computer goes thorugh a POST (power on self test). IT goes through a series of tests before it actually get to the bios which then after that, the bios hands over operations to the hdd.
I forgot how many tests are actually in the post.
What it does, is sends out a sig to what it needs to send out to, when it hits its destinatin component the component will send the sig back. When the post does not recieve a sig back, it's programmed to send a series of beeps, as to what did not power on.
This series of beeps is common to RAM. When the signal is sent out to the RAM, there was none returned, so there for the computer will not boot or "post".
So from that, get a good stick of RAM that you know is good, and stick it in the perferred slot. If it starts up, then you know you RAM is bad. If not, then you know there is something to do with your RAM slot. Try putting the RAM into a diff slot, and see if it does it then. Do this and get back to us.

Good effort attaching the wav file for the beeps. You can find beep code guide here and also here. I would recommend disconnecting the keyboard first to see if you get the beeps, then the ram before narrowing it down to the cpu or motherboard.
One other thing, turn on the PC without any of the cards and see what happens.

Hi, thanks for your replies. David: My RAM card is a brand new Kingston 128MB stick. Sabertooth: I'll try to do that and I'll give the feedback. Thanks to both of you!

David: I've disconnected the keyboard, then ram, then vga then the other things, then I reinstall all to their slots....
OtheHill: Thanks for the link...
