Hi

I have a Athlon 2400+ and when i run Amd's cpuinfo it gives its clock speed @ 1341 and Amd's cpuid gives it @ 1327. Sometimes it goes up to 1500+ or down to 1200. But the really weird thing is when my system is booting up it says i have a 2400+ and when i use Wcpuid it says the clock speed is 2004.54, also if i go to windows system information its says its running at 2004.

But wait it gets even more freakier...when cpuid or cpuinfo give my clock speed wrong i reset and then theres a 50% chance that cpuinfo and cpuid will give the right clock speeds...once reseted cpuinfo will say clock speed of 2037 and cpuid says 2004.

Now i wouldnt mind this if it didnt have any reprucussions on my system but it does. For example when cpuinfo and cpuid give the wrong clock speed i tested it out by playing Freelancer. The sound becomes distorted and it lags in places where it doenst lag when cpuinfo and cpuid give the clock speed at 2037 and 2004.

Use this for the most accurate clock measurement.

Tried the tomshardware tool and it says clock frequency is at 2004.545 and measure with alternative timer its anywhere between 1550 to 1890. Whats the purpose of this alternative timer?
