Hi all,

got a problem baught some mushkins cl2 ram for my system. traded in my old sticks so got a good deal. Baught 2 x 512 mb 3200 pc ddr mushkins. Got them brand new arrived sealed.

Installed properly and booted up no problems.
But when eva i put load on the ram system crashed blue screen like when loading half life 2 etc.

so i ran a mem test and it came up with 3 or 4 errors within a couple of minutes.

My question is really is there anything i can do to repair them?
could anything be set up wrong on my system cos i thought mushkins was very good quality and tested before shipping from makers and shouldnt really have problems. They come with a lifetime gurantee and i find it a bit strange that i get so many errors with such good quality ram.

Thanks guys any help really appreciated

I seriously doubt there is anyway to fix them.

It's time you used that lifetime warranty.

I did not mean FSB.

I meant timings

i.e

ras
tras
cas
etc

Your mushkin is something like 2-2-2-6?I'm not sure but your cas is 2.
cl2 stands for cas latency, which =2 in your case.

you need to check the timings in the bios or cpu-z will tell you what timings you have.

You need to make sure the ram voltage is set correctly also. Make sure your bios says the same as your ram specs. If your mobo bios undervolts it, I would think that it could cause a problem. But not sure about it.

sorry indigian didnt realise what you said, but yeah i will check my timings and post back
from memory i think there were 2, 2, 3 6

should i relax them to 2.5, 3 ,3, 6

And thanks yo i will check that as well i know my board undervolts with the processor so it might with ram as well

ill post back, thanks for you help as well

PS i also checked mushkin website and they recomend putting the dimms in slots 1 and 3, as this proves better for the memory controller, i got them in slots 1 and 2 so that may be a factor.

not sure?but memtest will help you out here I think.

I think you can change 1 setting then test with memtest to check for errors.

Generally, if you get errors when running memtest86, the RAM is bad & there's nothing you can do about it. Try testing one stick at a time...you'll probably find that only one stick is bad. See if you can exchange it at the place of purchase...if not, contact Mushkin, explain what's happening, & ask for an RMA.

Thanks YO. I actually had a great time & I'm scheduled for another weeklong training session in early May. Wish I could tell you what happened, but it's inappropriate in this forum ;)

RMA = Return Merchandise Authorization

Basically, you contact them & explain your problem...if they feel it's a RAM problem & not a system configuration problem, they'll assign an RMA number to use for the making the return. You'll need to put the RMA number on the package when you return the RAM, plus you should reference the RMA number in any future e-mails

When I got my pc4000 OCZ ram, I was having problems with it. random BSOD's, etc. Most of the memtests passed, but one test failed. I noticed that during that one particular test, I was testing the ram in the 3rd slot (I use 1 and 3). I switched to slots 2 and 4, and everything works perfectly. Turns out my 3rd dimm slot died/broke.

Hello,
i have a very anoying problem with my computer.
this is the computer i bought recently:
Motherboard: ASRock K7VT4A+
CPU: AMD Athlon XP2800+
RAM: 512 DDR Infineon 400Mhz
HDD: Western Digital 80Gb at 7200Rpm
Graphic Adapter: ati radeon 9200 but i`ll change it soon with a 9800 pro
my os is : windows xp profesional SP2 with all the updates.
and that`s about it.
I think i have a problem with my memory, because this occures only when i am playing. for example, i try to play doom3 with all the settings set to minimum and the game crashes soon after the first level starts, same with the last hitman game, or even with half-life 1 and counterstrike 1.5
but not all games dont work. for example delta force black hawk down works flawless and so does NFS underground 2.
I dont think it`s a driver problem cuz i`ve got the latest driver and i`ve also tried older drivers. the games have no problems i`ve tried to play the with and without updates, patches and fixes and still they dont work...
also, i`ve tested the RAM on another computer that has a similar configuration (amd athlon xp2600, similar asrock motherboard the only exeption is that that computer has the graphic adapter onboard).
i also tested 2 identical 256DDR at 333MZ on my computer and the computer failed to boot.
I don`t have a serious heating problem with the cpu.but as another question i would like to know what the optimum working temperature for Athlon xp2800+ is.
i would be very very happy if you could help me solve my problem.
