Ram prob. on 810e chipset

Hi... I just got a 512mb sdram(PC100 and 100mhz)(64*64)...and my system only shows 128mb as ram...i thought it would show atleast 256mb as tht is the max. capacity in one DIMM slot in my chipset. But it shows only 128MB as RAM... Why is this.? Please help Srinath

You're lucky the RAM is recognized at all. You have the wrong stuff & judging from what you wrote, you realized it before trying it. The 810e chipset only supports 512MB (max) & if you have 2 DIMM slots, the max per slot is 256MB & it must be based on 16, 64, or 128Mbit technology. The stick you have is high density 512Mbit

If you're happy running a 512MB stick that's only recognized as 128MB, knock yourself out. But if you encounter random errors, rebooting, etc, it's probably due to the RAM
