OS: Windows Xp Home edition
CPU/Ram: 3200+/1gb ram
Model/Manufacturer: custom
Comment:
well right now im testing some ram which is the 1gb ocz plantium ddr500. put it in my system,3200+, with that ram, BIOSTAR GEFORCE 6100-M9, ok board, 6800gs, and a new seasonic 500w. was planning to o/c the 3200+ to 2.5ghz with this ram but first i wanted to try lower settings. put my ram on 233mhz, and my cpu to 232 cause that the closet it could get it, booted up fine, went to cpu-z to see the specs and it states that my cpu is running at 2.26ghz and the ram is at 250mhz, when i manually set it at 233. kind of weird and need help with this. oh and the htt thing is at x4.

right u are ken!!

The RAM is running at 250MHz because that is the speed that DDR500 runs at...apparently you didn't change the RAM setting, it's still on AUTO.

What's odd is the CPU speed. If you set the CPU Freq to 232MHz, it *should* run at 2.32GHz, not 2.26GHz.

How about posting the CPUZ info?

well yeah i know its weird and all but i didnt just want to go all out to 250 mhz already cause i wanted to see how it would be at 233 mhz for stability. but yeah the ram settings are not in auto, they are in manual, which i set them to. i know they should run at that speed but i dont know why they do that.

right u are ken!!

ok well now i know why it does that but know i have another problem. i got the ram posting the same as the cpu but now i put the cpu to 234 or higher it still posts in cpu-z that it is running at 2.26. but then, i put it at 226 and lower and my computer just freezes while its in windows. all of my mobo drivers are up to date, and stuff but i dont know why this is happening

right u are ken!!

It doesn't make sense because your CPU multi is 10x, so if you you set the CPU Freq at 234MHz, it *should* run at 2.34GHz (10 x 234).

I just thought of something....you're not using that stupid WarpSpeeder program, are you? Overclocking should be done in the BIOS, not thru software.

I really dont understand the question but If your O/C stuff you might need to set a higher voltage. To high and it will destory it for good so you have to be carfull. I know if I O/C to much with out raising the voltage the core speed goes down and/or it's unstable.

Im having the same exact problem... but theres one thing i dont understand, when i look at warpspeeder (i dont use it) it shows my Dual Channel DDR400 1GB running at 200MHZ, and in the bios i cant set above 250mhz... what does that mean?
