Comment:

What is the normal/average CPU temperature? Along with the normal and average of the system temperature? In idle and in work load can someone give me a list?

Depends on two things mostly:

Your room temp and the size of the heatsink and fan on the processor!

Assuming you're in a room like me in the UK, I have a system temp of about 32 degrees and a CPU temp of about 48 degrees. I have the Prescott tho which runs about 10 degrees hotter than a normal P4. I also have arctic silver thermal compound, a 3.4GHz rated Dr.Thermal heatsink, a large front inlet fan and two exhaust fans!

On load, after some heavy duty processing i dont expect to see my CPU temp reach above 58 degrees at most but this is picky, anywhere below 70 isnt dangerous for a prescott.

Hope that helps.

A CPU at idle is ussually between 40*C-49*C and under stress they can go as high as 60*C but I wouldent like anything over 58*C either. Case temps shouldent really get hotter than 40*C but anything under 35*C is probbably better. My systems CPU idles at abou 38*C and under load I havent seeen it over 44*C and my system temp is pretty much always 25*C wether it is under load or not. But I do have a Sempron and a large zalman copper heatsink so my CPU temps are very low. My room at this time of year is between 15*C and 20*C so it isnt really hot. Summer is coming though!

Sempron 2600+ OC 2.2GHz
1024Mb DDR400
2x80Gb 7200Rpm 8Mb
nVIDIA FX5500 128Mb
Damn Microsoft...

My cpu temperature is at 80°C and the cpu fan constantly stays constant at 2600 rpm. (I have a p4 2.8E, asus p4p 800. A few months ago, in the summer, my cpu temp was always increasing or trying to increase, but my cpu fan prevented it from doing so by revving at 5000 rpm, keeping cpu temp at 64 degrees. It's only recently that the cpu fan stopped increasing to make the cpu temp drop. Now I'm running at a very high temperature (80°C) and I'm scared for my computer
