Hi, I just bought a Jetway PX4FCU motherboard and I want to know if it can support DDR 333, because in my manual it only says DDR 266.

I guess you answer your question, or the manual did. The memory speed is controlled by the chipset as such that the manual states the specifications. You could put PC2700 in but the board would only recognize it as PC2100.

I forgot to tell you that the BIOS of my board was updated when I bought it. Because there are some added settings in the BIOS that the manual don't specify. I already tried to download a manual in the internet, but found none. So, I was hoping if anyone can help me here or anyone has an opinion if DDR 333 would work as DDR 333 in my board.

At a preliminary look, I'd guess you have
the P 4X FCU as opposed to
the P X4 FCU

If so, you should be able to crank that up to 200MHz (400 FSB) right from the BIOS setup. Do it incrementally thought so you don't fry anything out. In fact it looks that the board supports to 533 FSB.

Also, your board appears to be a close relative of the p4xfc. Hope that's helpful.

What's really important is your cpu...usually best to have them synch'ed, or atleast close together. What is your cpu anyway?

I have an Intel Celeron 2.0 GHz and 128 MB SDRAM. I am still gathering information on DDR's so I can be sure of what I will buy when the time comes.

I don't know anything about the celeron processor (in fact i wish someone might tell me a little about tne difference between P4 and Celeron; are they different like a 386 is different from a 486?) Bur i do know that the 128 is probably not going to get you too far and since you're thinking of buying DDR, I'd say get the fastest you can get within your budget. Lately I've been noticing 3200DDR has been cheaper than 2100 and 2700 RAM because of sales and mail in rebates...

DDR=Double Data Rate

3200 DDR RAM = 200Mhz x 2 = 400 FSB

About the Celeron, well, it's a hybrid of the flipchip and P4. I bought the Celeron because it has much more stable temperature than P4, and I mean stable.

CPU temp. w/o load = idle at 39 - 42C
CPU temp. w load = idle at 43 - 48C

I still own a P4 Celeron 2.0. P4 Celeron from 2Ghz on are excellent overclocker. Mine is running at 3ghz with only 1.6 volt.

Instead of the 512 cache, Celeron has only 128 or 1/4th of the Pentium. Other than the smaller cache size, everything is the same. I use PC133 and run the system at 150mhz FSB.

So let's say you have a celeron processor and a P4 processor running at the same clock speed, how much of a performance difference can one expect? I ask because I assume there should be some because of the big differnce in price?

The big diff. is that the P4 slightly runs faster and the Celeron has more stable temps.

You won't notice the difference in office apps at all. Even in making MP3 and MP2 video there is very little difference in performance until you play games.
