The Core 2 Quad Q9400 will be better suited for the future when games start really utlizing Quad Cores, at the moment The Core 2 Duo E8400 as of right now slightly outperforms the Core 2 Quad Q9400 in gaming benchmarks, because of its faster speed and most games can't take advantage of Quad Cores yet so the two extra Cores in the Core 2 Quad Q9400 aren't being taking advantage of by most games right now. But the few that can take advantage of Quad Cores, that's where the Core 2 Quad Q9400 outperforms the Core 2 Duo E8400.
