I've heard 2 different methods of applying thermal grease, and I wanted people's take:
method 1: With the bottom of the HSF and the top of the CPU completely clean and dry, apply a tiny dot of grease to the top of the CPU and put the HSF down on top of it (the pressure will spread out the grease)
method 2: spread some grease around the bottom of the HSF, then place a tiny dot on top of the CPU and spread that around too. Then place the 2 together.
Both methods claim to insure no air bubbles and to create the best contact between the HSF and CPU. How do y'all do it?

1. make sure both surfaces are clean & dry. Do NOT touch them with your fingers! Fingerprints & oil from your skin can affect thermal transfer efficiency.
2. Apply a small amount to the CPU core...no larger than a grain of rice. Smooth it out as evenly as possible...it should be no thicker than a sheet of paper.
3. Apply a small amount to the bottom of the heatsink where the core will make contact. Using your finger inserted into the corner of a baggie (or something similar), thoroughly rub the compound into the bottom of the heatsink, then wipe off the excess with a lintfree cloth (or paper towel).
4. Carefully, install the heatsink...
or just follow these instructions..lol
