i run a athlon xp 1900 (1.6 ghz) on a Asus A7v266-E mobo (with 1024 ddr). when i boot my computer, it never works on the first try. when it does come on, my CMOS settings never save. it ALWAYS says "last time the computer hanged for an improper CPU speed". i cannot run it at 1600mhz cause it wont ever finish booting wihtout locking up, but when ever i set it to a different speed, i get the improper speed problem. on top of that, when ever it does decide to work, (like once out of 10 tries), i can only have it on for like 15 minutes before i get a "PHYSICAL MEMORY DUMP" error or a "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. im so frusterated. and my cdrom stopped working today :(. lol help!!!

and yes my mobo supports xps

There could be 2 problems...

1) Your Bios needs updating as Maybe stated.

2) Your CMOS battery is failing.

Check for both.

Switch to a Duron CPU or go with Pentium 4. That will correct ALL your problems unless your Athlon 1900+ already destroyed your mainboard.

i have a a7v266-e with an amd 1800 xp, but have a problem booting, it just locks up after memory test, it picks up the process but as soon as it comes to award plug and play it locks up, some time after the memory test, it does not allow me to go to the bios as the keyboard is locked. my bios version is 1008 beta 3, the very first time i booted the pc it went into the bios and i selected my processor speed and the pc restarted, i even fdisk my 80gb hard disk when asked to restart and format hard disk it never booted accuratly since then, i even removed the battery from the motherboard but still same thing. i then changed my hard drive, but still same problem. the jumpers on the motherbaord are in jumper free mode, can u please help, best to email me thank you.
