when i installed the new processor , i never got it to work at xp3200 speed. It always says xp 2500 when booting up, but recently it started giving me problems like when i reboot the computer and after xp loads up. My desktop keeps blinking every sec. the screen turns black and then i can see the desktop agian , Also when it blinks th cpu usage is 100%
but this keeps happening again and again so i cannot do anything.
first it only use to happen for few min and then some how it adjusts itself but now it wont. I even reinstalled the win xp but still the same problem
can any one pleaes tell me whats wrong and how can i fix it
any help is greatly apprecaitedthankyou

Chris !!
Why dont you refer to your mother board manual or go to the msi web site and have alook at the cpu support sheet for your board ??
The fact that you can ge the thing to boot in the first place says the 3200 will run at base speed.
But did you set your bios in line for the cpu. All this you need to check before installing a new cpu.
Could wel end up being a costly mistake if you blow the board or the cpu without checking support characteristics.

IF IT AINT BROKE, DONT FIX IT

And if my memry serves me the 3200 is a 400fsb cpu is it not.
And if the board you are quoting is what i think it is it can NOT handle the 400fsb cpu.
Is your board known ast the KT4v series ??
I cant find any reference to the k74v on the msi site.

DUDE, you're supposed to ask these questions BEFORE you buy, NOT after!
Janos is correct. I couldn't find the K74V listed at the MSI site either, but the KT4VL is listed as MS-6712.

You didn't need to shell out $150+ for a new 3200+ CPU anyway, the 2500+ will run as a 3200+ on most boards that support 400FSB. Unfortunately, your board doesn't support 400FSB. Not only that, but you should have PC3200 RAM to go along with it.
All you had to do was check your manual, the MSI website, or type your model number into Google.
