Specs: Windows XP, mercury/1gb
i thought of formatting my system to remove virus.
So I insert the Windows XP installation CD in the drive. I restart my computer and then go to setup to check if my boot sequence is set to read the cd drive before any hard disk drives. Everything's alright . Then the black screen comes up a message saying to press any key if I want to run the CD. I press Enter. Then the blue screen comes on loading drivers for the windows installation. After it had finished loading, it displayed the first screen of the installation where it says:

To set up Windows XP now, press ENTER

Then I tried pressing "d" to delete the partition,it deleted the partition and again created the partion and pressed install xp in created partition.

it formatted the started loading files in to installation folders ,this continued up to 40% and then suddenly message appeared:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any Windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Started Optionsm and then select Safe Mode

Technical information:

i dont remember technical information;

then i went to advanced bios setup by pressing delete after restarting and disabled L1cache & L2cache and i loaded the defalt values then i saved and quit

it took nearly 1hr 30 min for the blue screen to disappear and start installing xp at that time power has gone.

i was fed up & took my HDD to my friend and put the HDD in my friend system by removing his HDD installation went on normally ;it was successfully installed;

when i bought HDD to my home and fixed to my system it came "start
windows normally" i pressed enter ;

then i am not getting any thing it is stuck

plzzzzzzzz any one favor me now i am not able to work with my system

1. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA generally indicates a hardware problem, possibly memory. Are you sure you have (or had) a virus?

2. if you disable L1 & L2 cache, it's gonna take FOREVER for your computer to do ANYTHING. Re-enable them!

3. BIOS defaults are NOT the best performance settings. By loading them, you lost any customized settings you may have had & quite possibly lowered the overall performance of the system.

4. you can't install XP on one system, then swap the HDD into another. The XP installation is tied to the system it was installed in...if you swap the HDD into another system, it generally won't boot. You still need to reinstall XP.

5. your question(s) have nothing to do with CPUs or overclocking. You should have posted in the XP forum.

You could try booting from XP disk and do a repair install. You'll most likely get the same error though.
