What's the real world difference between the Prescott & Northwood cores as it pertains to performance?

My Asus P4S533 has been running a OCed Northwood, and I have been considering an upgrade to a 2.8Ghz/533fsb CPU.

Should I go for the Prescott this time?

prescott was made with 1mb cache whereas the northwood was made with 512k cache. Although the northwood benches better than the prescott

Northwoods are much better overclockers then Prescotts. Prescotts run pretty hot compared to the Northwoods, even the new 6 series Prescotts still run hotter then even the first generation Athlon 64's.

If you are into overclocking stick with a Northwood, if not then go with a Prescott.

Funny, AMD used to have heat problems, now Intel does.

Yeah but it has gotten a lot better since the good old K6 days where they were almost non overclockable the faster the standard core processor was.

AMD has gotten better in cooling while Intel has gotten worse, that's why the majority of your overclockers now choose newer AMD 64 chips.

You would guess that with 1gb of cache Prescotts would really show a clear boost
over 512gb Northwoods. Not so?
