Could someone tell me the difference between power supplys besides the Watts. If there is a difference.
Also,
Does the amount of power use by the power supply effect the speed and therfore the sound of the power supplys own fan?

Quality and noise levels are the major differences between good power supplies and the cheap ones. Tom's hardwareguide had a very good review about power supplies. Quality refers to actual voltages, maximum wattage output and manufacturing. A large capacity power supply can also be very quiet, it depends on the quality of the fans and internal components that are used. Antec is known for making quiet and good performance power supplies.

Power supply fans tend to be loud if they do not advertise themselves as quiet. Their loudness is not related to power or quality or anything. They are all too loud except for those few that make an effort to be quiet.
Probability of failure is the most important psu measurement. But you can't measure it because everyone who has ever reviewed or tested a psu had that psu hand-picked by the manufacturer before it was sent. As the net evolves we will have a database of anyone who has ever sold 1000 psus and a sampling of their users and will be able to assess the probability of failure by brand but we are nowhere near that. In 2003 Asus makes the worst mobos and Antec the worst psus because we hear so many complaints about them but its only because they have so many users and that is just not the way to measure probability of failure, by penalizing popularity.
There are two good choices when you buy a power supply. The most common name off page two of the bargain list, which is a great deal from someone who is willing to live up to customer complaints, and the king of power supplies, which is Power & Cooling. I have never bought from them and never will because why pay $90 when you can make a bet on $25 that will probably pay off.

I picked up a 600w psu from CompUSA for $60.00 and you guessed it... It's a CompUSA Brand. But I'm very happy with my purchase, I'm able to run all my fans (and I do have alot) + everything else.
O yeah about the noise well....... My computer sounds like a jet taking off... hahaha

One "funny" or "not so funny" thing about PS is that they all come from the same area. Name brands are made by the same people and equipment as the no name. Call them the Yum Cha brand or whatever. In fact, name one item in the PC that is not from South East Asia. Sorry, may be some but not all processors. Nothing is made in Japan neither.
I am afraid Johnoh is correct again. "why pay $90 when you can make a bet on $25 that will probably pay off." May be age has something to do with wisdom. Bad joke!
Don'f forget IBM HD has a MTBF of over 1%, and it is being "acceptable".
As far as my pick on a new system today, I'd go for 500 Watts.

Ok thanks for the help peops.
I did check out Tom's hardware guide but it doesn't seam worth it to pay $90 for a power supply when my $30 one works fine.I think I will just barry my computer under my desk more or something.
THanks
